안녕하세요
So now that the national exam SPM has ended. I'm thinking of sharing my thoughts on how to choose your path. These all are basically my own experience. I'm just sharing in case you are having trouble just I was before.
Choosing your way after SPM is one of the most confusing thing on earth. You have your own dream. But at the same time there are people who put high hopes in you, people who count on you. Well I do.
My all-time ambition was a lawyer. In fact I had this dream to be a lawyer since I was in SMK. So I always targeted two subjects that would probably strengthen my will to pursue law. Simply say, English & Sejarah. (one reason why I wanted to pursue law cause I was done with maths & all these science stream subjects)
I'm the person who has a clear vision on what I want to be, on what I'm going to do. So I pictured myself being a lawyer. Seriously this happened. However my parents wished differently. They didn't oppose my all-time "to-be-a-lawyer" somehow they put it nicely saying that I should pursue something more 'suitable'with what what I got for SPM. Yes I got 9A SHOCKINGLY. Honestly if I didn't get 9A I might be doing law at this moment. This somehow proved that I still can tolerate science subjects. I was convinced at first but of course maths was the main reason. How I wished I wouldn't be forced to learn maths again.
Actually when I was registering for UPU, I sticked to my all-time ambition but it was like 3 days or a week I think before the due date, I changed it all from top to bottom. Why?
Because first, I was never a debater. I probably would freeze if I had to deliver a debate speech. Second, I talked much but I didn't think I can talk freely in front of people who might had different ideas than mine. Shortly, I was not 100 % confident with myself.
It's okay. Sometimes things don't go the way you want them to be. What's important that you talk to your parents and try to listen to their opinion. Some parents would just let the kids choose. And you should think and make decision wisely. This matters your future in the next 10 years. Don't oppose your parents' suggestions blindly. You can do some career tests or personality tests online. (I did it). Seek advice from your seniors who are in the field of your choice. ( I asked my senior who's now studying law & she had exactly same views as my parents). Search for the course that you're wishing to do. Browse bloggers' posts. (this really help me to figure out what's law actually)
That's all that I want to share. It's supposed to be 'brief' /sigh/ but I get too lengthy with the throwback story. Forgive me 🙏. Hope this help you a bit and ah I forget this. Even if others think you can't do it as long as you have the confidence (which I didn't have) go for it. Convince your parents and I'm sure you'll be blessed. 💕💕
